Please take the time to care for your academic robes while easy, can be a bit involved. Potions and spells gone badly can cause not only bad stains to your robes; can also cause them to rot faster than moths.
Please do not use well water on your academic robes or Graduation robes. This can cause staining, not to mention the added iron or other minerals and the like in your robes can actually cause the chance of some spells going wonky can actually increase.
While certain spells or potions, when used, can absorb surrounding metals and minerals, having excess amount of these minerals and metals actually in your academic robes can cause a spell to backfire and you could be hurt in the resulting explosion or back lash.
We ask that for soap, that you only use detergent available in the New World Magic School for Wizards student supply shop. You will be looking for Wizards and Robes Magical Detergent created by Merlin Magical. Merlin Magical is a wizard cleaning product supplier that has been working with the New World Magic School for Wizards since we opened back in 1575. Merlin Magical, started by the great Merlin’s great, great, great granddaughter, was started to help wizards be able to have a safe alternative to use to clean their academic robes and all of their wizard clothing that may be used while casting spells or using potions.
Certain things to be careful about using when you clean your robes never use things like bleach, mortal world laundry soap, or alcohol of any kind. If you do spill any of these things on your academic robes, please be sure to wash them again using the Wizards and Robes Magical Detergent. If you are not careful what you get on your robes and wash off dangerous chemicals as quickly as possible, you are taking the chance that you could end up messing up a spell, or causing a potion to go off prematurely.
Please make sure that after you wash your graduation gown, that you take the time to hang them up to dry, instead of trying to use a dryer. Using a dryer on your robes could cause too much air to go into your robes, which, in turn, could cause some flight spells to not work properly, or worse, to work too well and being unable to return to the earth before getting too close to the clouds. We have had too many students that have found out, the hard way, what lightening spells can do, if their academic robes have been dried in a dryer instead of being hung up.
Also, please make sure that you also iron your academic robes as well, once they have been cleaned and dried. Ironing will make sure that you look the best that you can and will show that you have pride in yourself and your status as a new wizard student. Pride in yourself and in your school is probably one of the few things you will have that are completely up to you.
